In this Tibetan village in Northern Nepal the clustered houses step up the side of the mountain, each looking over the roof of the one below. All the food the villagers eat is grown in the surrounding fields which aslo step up the slope.

The smoke betrays the weak spot in this idyllic picture. The mountains above have all been desertified by centuries of scavenging for
firewood.

How they need solar energy!

....and so too do we, city dwellers in the modern world.

Why not build our cities this way?
Housing on top and instead of a mountain below, why not stack up all the roads, cars, trucks, factories and big box retail stores. Make a mountain of all that visual blight, and throw in telephone poles and billboards for good measure!

None of all that rubbish requires daylight or needs to be seen.
